Perhaps you’re one of the lucky few to already have a 2023 Monster Energy Yamaha Racing edition heading their way. Well, we’ve got good news – we’re finally able to offer fully customizable designs for the brand new Yamaha bike!
We’ve pulled some strings and given it our all to get our hands on Yamaha’s brand new 2023 YZ450F as soon as possible. Thanks to our partners who really came through on this, we were given the opportunity to draft up one of the first and most precise templates on the market! Our in-house product development worked non-stop to provide you with custom graphics for Yamaha’s latest addition to the MX roster.
It’s all set and done and you’re good to go to set up your new 2023 YZ450F with fully customizable, fresh new graphics in classic Team Yamaha Blue or Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition inspired designs! How does it work?
Once you choose your bike and year model, you’re forwarded to our design selection. Here, you will find hand drafted kits ready to be personalized into your masterpiece. Select the base design of your choice and head into our configurator and get creative!
You can adjust the color of all accents present on the graphics in our “Design” mode. We recommend matching the main color of your decals to the underlying plastics to create a clean overall look. Once you’re done with the colors, head over to our “Logo” mode and adjust, move, resize or replace logos and incorporate your favorite brands by choosing from our huge logo library or uploading your own custom sponsor logos as .JPG or .PNG files.
And be sure to check out our “Extras” to include accessories such as fork stickers or mini plates to cover all of your style needs!
New design and specs!
The most noticeable thing is the compacted, lighter and slimmer new body design Yamaha rolled out this year. However, they didn’t stick to only changing the layout of the plastics. The new four-stroke comes with all new capabilities in matters of power, handling and design.
Among the highlights the bike delivers improved titanium intake valves for an improved air intake, a redesigned aluminum bilateral beam frame to improve bump absorption, an updated launch control system offering an rpm rev limit with 500 RPM increment adjustability, a narrower fuel tank and airbox cover and the switch to dry sump lubrication, just to name a few.
The changes took off a decent 5 pounds off of the 2023 YZ450F weight, giving the bike a lighter feel overall. The beloved Yamaha Power Tuner smartphone app received a quality of life update enabling you to make engine mapping with ease, thanks to the reworked slide bar interface.
Speaking of power – to assist in getting it down to the rear wheel, the bike runs all new disc springs instead of the previous coil springs. The rear brake also received a ton of love thanks to reduced rigidness.
You’ll also find a new lap timer and traction control system tuning, as well as set-up guides in the new app.
And there’s no more need for tools to get your suspension feeling just right as the Speed Sensitive System shines yet again. Yamaha introduced a hand-operated compression damping adjuster to facilitate the process by a ton.
We are happy to announce our first Backyard Design Rideday in the UK!
Our brand ambassador Tommy Searle and Kecks put together a Rideday on 16th of October at Apex Motocross Park in Worcester.
The Rideday is limited to 150 riders, thats why we decided to open up an online registration. Each rider must book their spot in advance though this link: BOOK NOW
Each ticket costs £35 and you can pay in cash at the track.

The boys over at Tagger supplied us with fresh looks which we promptly converted into helmet wraps you can now buy at our shop.
As per usual the designs are customizable in our Backyard Configurator, fit on common helmets models and are purchasable in every country with a dedicated Backyard Shop.
The new Josh Hansen graphics are here!
Josh Hansen has always been one step ahead in terms of style. That alone would be reason enough to commit him as a team rider.
Josh has been with us in the Backyard Design Team for almost a year.
We designed his first Honda design for Josh’s CRF 450 together with him and it has since been copied by almost every motocross graphics company in the world.
We naturally see this as a compliment and wanted to come up with something new for the 2020 LVN100 graphics. We made it a bit more difficult for our competing companies and designed the decor clean but with many little extras that are relatively difficult to copy.
The grey gripper seatcover from Backyard Design, which is only available for the CRF 250 2018 – 2020 and the CR450F 2017-2020, makes the bike an absolutely unique piece.
Of course, as with all of our graphics, you can adjust the colors yourself and design exactly the style you want.

The first contest starts on March 25th, 2020 and ends on April 12th, 2020. It pays to be quick, the longer the graphic kit is online, the more likely it is that more access and coordination will be possible.

An update from Backyard Design on the current situation and how to deal with the corona virus (Covid-19).
The current situation affects us motocrossers just like all other sports.
Tracks remain closed, races or ridedays are being canceled.
In this uncertain time, the MX community has to stick together more than ever.
For our part, we have been sending our designers and customer service to the home office for a week to curb further spread.
Only our production employees are still with us in the office to print and send your orders. But here, too, we strictly adhere to the prescribed security measures.
We work hard to keep delivery times as short as possible for you. If one or the other order takes a little longer than usual, we apologize for this.
We hope that the Corona crisis will soon be over and we wish all our customers, business partners and all motocrossers good luck in the crisis and hope to be able to ride with you again soon!

We all have a clear idea of our Yamaha, Honda or KTM. Would you like the agile Husqvarna TC50, the stylish Kawasaki KX 65 or the solid Yamaha YZ 85? Whatever you decide to do, there are important tips here that need to be considered. We’ll give you the most important tips right at the start.
As a motocross freak, you rely on using a lot of engine power for a long time. The problem, especially with used motocross motorcycles, is that many buyers only do quick inspections and do not look critically enough. You should therefore make a long test or test drive after the engine has warmed up. Here you should put it to the acid test – how all gears can be shifted, what the acceleration looks like and whether the clutch still has enough room. In this way you avoid giving away a motocross that is very susceptible to repair.
Especially with the steering head bearings there are often problems that you cannot see at first glance. Do you have the possibility to jack up the motocross? Then go for it, put on your motocross with the rear wheel and maximize the handlebars in both directions. Sufficient play is important here, a bad sign is noise that resembles grinding.
Classic signs of wear can also be found regularly on the throttle grip, on rusty chains, cracked cables or broken teeth. Many of these damages are easy to fix, but in the end the sum of the individual parts makes the effort – rather look closer than focussing on expensive repairs later.
Advice: You don’t have enough technical know-how to evaluate used motocross sufficiently? Take a knowledgeable friend with you or take the part to an expert, so you don’t take any unnecessary risks.
Quite a few people only discover the fascination that motocross emanates when they are teenagers or even adults. Especially if you want to give away motocross, you should therefore clearly consider whether you are dealing with a rookie or a professional. Especially for beginners, we recommend some classic motocross models that make it easy to get started. Here’s a little inspiration:
With a two-stroke you benefit from cheaper conditions in all terms. It is easy to find its way around, the sound is right and maintenance won’t be that problem. In order to get a feeling for motocross at all, you should consider two-strokes only as a give-away for beginners.
The YZ 125 from Yamaha already offers you a great range of basic equipment, fits well in your hand and impresses with classic Yamaha quality. Here you can get a lot of bike for little money, even if maximum speed isn‘t your top prio.
With the KTM 150 SX you rely on a classic dirt bike with a first-class ride, sufficient power and intuitive handling.
